Who Practice Room Is For

The Practice Room Concept

A walking bass line is a carefully crafted combination of well-placed chord tones enriched by a variety of melodic approaches. A bass solo is a rhythmically and melodically developed extension of those same concepts.

In the Practice Room, you learn jazz bass starting with the fundamentals and gradually build an understanding of the elements that shape great bass lines and improvisation. The goal is to help you create your own lines while learning standards and understanding how and why other bass players make the choices they do. Practice Room is also suitable for intermediate bassists who want to strengthen their understanding of harmony, walking bass, and improvisation.
