Over the years, I have performed, taught, and presented masterclasses internationally while developing a practical approach to learning jazz bass. My work has taken me to major festivals throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America, including appearances at Umbria Jazz, Marciac Jazz Festival, Richmond Jazz Festival, Shanghai Jazz Festival, Jarasum Jazz Festival, Jazz al Parque, and many others. I have also had the privilege of performing in internationally recognized jazz clubs and concert venues around the world.
My master’s degrees in classical double bass performance and jazz composition and arranging have given me a deeper understanding of instrumental technique, harmony, harmonic progression, composition, and orchestration. This perspective has shaped the way I approach the bass, helping me understand its most effective and creative role within jazz and other musical settings while continually exploring the instrument’s possibilities as a solo voice.
Walking bass lines and improvisation are forms of real-time composition. They require a clear understanding of harmony, form, rhythm, and musical direction. These concepts are at the core of my teaching and are woven throughout the lessons, analyses, and personalized guidance offered through Jazz Bass Academy.
Jazz Bass Academy is where I bring together my experience as a performer, arranger, and educator with the concepts, practice methods, and musical approaches that have shaped my career. Through structured video lessons, repertoire study, harmonic analysis, play-along practice, and personalized guidance, I help students develop walking bass lines, improvisation, harmonic understanding, and a deeper understanding of how jazz really works.
Whether you are building your foundations or refining advanced concepts, the goal is not simply to learn more licks. The goal is to understand the music well enough to create your own bass lines, develop your own musical language, and make informed musical choices in real playing situations.
